In March of 2006, after years and years of waiting, I purchased my first dog. I knew I was getting him the moment I saw him, he is a Sarplaninac (also known as a Macedonian Mountain dog). As a puppy, he was a very large dog compared to most. Little did I know that he would grow up to be nearly 150 lbs and as strong as a lion. I say a lion because he actually looks like a lion, without the mane of course. He is a very beautiful dog with green eyes, rare of his breed. The only downfall is, because of the type of dog he is and a few other reasons, is that he is very protective of his area. He can be the sweetest dog, but if a stranger steps foot on the street that my house is on, he changes into this ferocious beast, similar to how a lion might react to other animals entering his territory. One day, I can hope to be able to train him and calm him down, but until then, he is king of the backyard.
